9ct Rose Gold Victorian Garnet and Diamond Fly bar brooch.
The later part of the 19th Century in Great Britain was awash with stories of the Natural World. Explorers and Scientists would return to London and their tales of exotic destinations would make for lively entertainment. Beetles, bugs and butterflies would be displayed and discussed at length. These creatures made their way into the fashions of the time, adorning clothing and accessories such as hats and of course, jewellery. This unusual and personable Fly Brooch is a fine example of a one off hand crafted jewellery item of that time. The fly symbolises that persistence will yield results.
